Bafana Bafana coach Stuart Baxter is looking forward to working with Thulani Serero and Kamohelo Mokotjo when the squad assembles on Sunday to start preparing for the back-to-back 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifiers against Cape Verde in September.
Serero was left out of the Bafana squad which played Nigeria and Mozambique in June because he was still in limbo at Ajax Amsterdam, while Mokotjo pulled out with an injury after he was included in the initial squad.
Serero finally found a new home at Dutch Eredivisie side Vitesse and has already made three appearances in all competitions for the club, playing 90 minutes in all the games.
Mokotjo, meanwhile, secured a move to the English Championship, signing for Brentford from Dutch side FC Twente. He has made four league appearances and another one in the league cup.
“His [Serero] move has been the catalyst. I have spoken to a couple of people in Holland and they both have been quite impressed with his performances. His experience and his ability on that [artificial] surface will help us,” Baxter said after naming his squad on Monday.
“It will be interesting to see him work and Kamo Mokotjo the same. I think those two players, with their experience and ability, they will be interesting to work with.”
