Kaizer Chiefs' Tsepo Masilela proud of brother Innocent Maela's Orlando Pirates debut

Kaizer Chiefs defender Tsepo Masilela is proud of his younger brother Innocent Maela, who made his debut for Orlando Pirates at Orlando Stadium on Saturday.

Maela was named man of the match after creating the winner in Pirates’ 1-0 victory over Chippa United but did not want to take all the credit for his impressive performance, as he thanked Bucs coach Milutin Sredojevic for giving him an opportunity.

Masilela and Maela are half brothers, as they share the same father but have different mothers.

“I didn't watch the full match. I think we had a team meeting that time but I did get to watch 20 or 25 minutes,” Masilela said.

“They [Pirates] have a new coach in a new season and I can say I'm proud of him. It’s not easy when it’s your first game and knowing the competition from the guys behind.

“Patrick Phungwayo and Thabo Matlaba sometimes play there at left-back, but yeah, I think he did well on the day. He got an assist and man of the match and he must just remain humble and keep on working hard.”

Masilela added that they talk regularly and sometimes he gives Maela advice.

“We do do talk on the phone on a regular basis and he also asks if he has problems and he knows that I'm always there for him.”
