Ajax, Arrows share spoils

Ajax Cape Town were unable to maximise their home ground advantage as they were held to a 1-1 draw against Golden Arrows at the Cape Town Stadium.
Arrows opened the scoring rather fortuitously after Brandon Petersen's attempted clearance ricocheted off an onrushing Lerato Lamola and then trickled over the line in the 24th minute.
Debutant Sedwyn George had a few opportunities to announce his arrival in the topflight, but struggled to find the target on the night.
The hosts were back on level terms just four minutes after the restart in the second-half as Rivaldo Coetzee beat Nkosingiphile Gumede to the ball to head home from Rodrick Kabwe's corner.
Kudakwashe Mahachi had a brilliant chance to restore Arrows' lead in the 65th minute, but a rush of blood to the head saw the midfielder blast his shot over the bar with an open net at his mercy.
Ajax enjoyed most of the possession and territory in the final 15 minutes as they went in search of the winner, but the Warriors lacked the final ball to really threaten Gumede's goal.
The visitors sat back and looked to catch Ajax out on the break, but wastefulness in attack led to the game being seen out to a stalemate and both sides settling for a point.
