Polokwane City and Baroka played to a goalless draw in the Limpopo derby at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.

There was also no separating the sides when they met in the Premiership last season as they produced 0-0 and 2-2 stalemates.

Attacking duo Rodney Ramagalela and Jabulani Maluleke had chances in the first half for City, who fielded new signing Thando Booi after the break as a replacement for Thobani Mncwango.

Bakgaga also showcased recruits Virgil Vries, Lewis Macha, Gift Motupa, Talent Chawapiwa and Abdi Banda.

Rise and Shine, who lost 1-0 to Cape Town City in the MTN8 quarter-finals last weekend, next visit African champions Mamelodi Sundowns on Tuesday. Sundowns beat Tshwane rivals SuperSport United 2-0 in their league opener to bounce back from their MTN8 exit at the hands of Maritzburg United.

Bakgaga, who narrowly survived relegation last term, will entertain Soweto giants Orlando Pirates next week.

Polokwane: Chigova, Mbonani, Tshilo, Hlongwane, Semenya, Maluleke, Seabi, Mngomezulu, Ramagalela, Mncwango (Booi 78'), Manaka (Phiri 81').

Baroka: Vries, Motupa, Kgoetyane, Shaku, Banda, Macha (Mosele 81'), Chawapihwa, Masenamela, Mdantsane, Matloga (Kgaswane 75'), Madubanya.
