New Baroka FC signings Lewis Macha and Abdi Banda awarded work permits ahead of Absa Premiership

Baroka FC have received a major boost ahead of their Absa Premiership opener against Limpopo rivals Polokwane City on Saturday with the news Lewis Macha and Abdi Banda’s work permits are ready.

Both Tanzanian defender Banda, 22, and Zambian striker Macha, 25, were signed by Bakgaga as free agents after the expiration of their contracts with Simba FC and Kaizer Chiefs respectively.

On Wednesday, Baroka head coach Kgoloko Thobejane told this website that some of his new foreign players might not be able to feature against Rise and Shine because of work permit issues, but club CEO Morgan Mammila has revealed those problems have been resolved.

"Banda and Macha got their permits,” Mammila tells

"Will receive them at any time. It is not only us. Other teams are also still waiting,” he adds.

Baroka and Polokwane kick off the 2017/18 Absa Premiership Stadium at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday at 15h00.
