KickOff.com can confirm that Highlands Park have parted ways with Brazilian defender Pedrao Henrique Dias de Amorim following a brief stint with the club.
Pedrao was signed by Highlands on a deal running up to next year at the beginning of the year after failing to win a contract with Kaizer Chiefs where he had spent time training in January.
He only made one appearance for Highlands – a Nedbank Cup tie against Free State Stars in March - before falling victim to a groin injury.
The 24-year-old has since reached a settlement with Highlands and already been paid part of his settlement while he remains in Johannesburg training in the gym with a move to another club lined up.
“With the club relegated they wanted to cut down his salary by almost 75% and he refused before then settling for a settlement after agreeing to a contract termination. He is now a free agent and keen to move on pending the outcome of an MRI scan. Since he is training in the gym and running on the field indications are that he is out of trouble in as far injuries are concerned,” says a source.
This website has also been informed of the scandalous dealings by the agents – known to KickOff.com – that he worked with when he signed for Highlands.
Pedrao played for Nacional, Sao Raimundo Esporte Clube, Oeste, Campinense and CA Itapemirim (all in Brazil) before moving to South Africa.
