Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane looks set to step up his pursuit of striker Jeremy Brockie after admitting Khama Billiat’s future at Chloorkop is not certain.
KickOff.com reported last week that Sundowns had seen a revised offer for Brockie rejected by SuperSport United CEO Stan Mathews, with the New Zealand international very much in coach Eric Tinkler’s plans this season.
The Brazilians have already made some big-name signings in the off-season, most notably those of Oupa Manyisa and George Lebese, who made their Sundowns debuts in Sunday’s MTN8 loss to Maritzburg United.
However, talks with Billiat over a new deal in Tshwane have stalled and, with two weeks to go before the transfer window closes, Mosimane’s plans to replace the Zimbabwean will need to be kicked up a gear.
“We would like to get one up front, one more striker and prepare ourselves, maybe Khama leaves, by the way,” said Mosimane.
“So I would like to have another striker and you know the striker I want. Hopefully, I can get him [Brockie] but it’s very difficult… very, very difficult.
”When I have these opportunities there is only one man who can solve this problem finished; Sniper, one chance, one goal, done,” he added.
Sundowns are set to meet SuperSport in the Tshwane derby at the Lucas Moripe Stadium this coming Saturday.
