Arsenal beat Leicester City 4-3 in Premier League opener

Posted: 11 August 2017 Time: 22:55

The English Premier League got underway in fine style as Arsenal triumped 4-3 over Leicester courtesy of a dramatic late winner at the Emirates Stadium on Friday night.

The Gunners were a goal up inside two minutes as Alexandre Lacazette scored on debut with only his second touch of the game - heading in Mohamed Elneny's cross.

The lead was short lived as Shinji Okazaki restored parity via his head only minutes later and Jamie Vardy slid in to score just before the half-hour mark.

The two sides went into the break level as Danny Welbeck scored on the stroke of half-time with a neat finish.

The visitors took the lead again 10 minutes into the second stanza as Vardy grabbed his brace with a cute header from close range.

The possibility of a turnaround seemed to be disappearing for Arsenal until Arsene Wenger made an ispired double switch that swung the game back in his side's favour.

Substitute Aaron Ramsey slammed home and 83rd minute equaliser before Olivier Giroud met Granit Xhaka's corner to win the season opener.
