Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Siphelele Mthembu looks set to sign for Free State Stars after a seemingly successful two-week trial with the Bethlehem side.
Mthembu, who turns 30 next week, was recently released by Amakhosi after failing to feature in even in a single match for the Naturena-based side.
However, he could soon be back in the Absa Premiership as he undergoes training with Ea Lla Koto
"As you know, Shaka Zulu [Siphelele Mthembu] has been training with us for about two weeks now. Well, he is still here as we are busy monitoring his progress,” Troughton tells KickOff.com.
"We like him, he likes us, maybe we can help each other."
Troughton also revealed to this website that Edward Manqele's trial at the the club has been delayed by injury.
"Manqele got injured in our friendly game against Mthatha Bucks. He picked up an ankle injury which has delayed his assessment,” the coach adds.
Stars will play their first match of the new PSL season against newcomers AmaZulu at King Zwelithini Stadium on August 19.
