Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Siphiwe Tshabalala is hoping to be back in time for the start of the Absa Premiership season.
‘Shabba’ missed pre-season with a hamstring injury and remains unavailable to face SuperSport United in the MTN8 quarter-final at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.
However, the Bafana Bafana international hopes to make a return for the start of the new league season next week.
Tshabalala was Amakhosi’s Player of the Season last term, playing a key role in Steve Komphela’s midfield. They need his experience in the team as they look to start the campaign well, to set themselves up for a good season.
“I have been working hard. I have recently started training and it feels good to train with the whole squad. I missed pre-season, which was the same last season. But I went on to win Player of the Year. Maybe it’s a sign,” Tshabalala tells KickOff.com.
“I feel still that I am part of the team because we share everything as team-mates. I am not sure when I will be back, but I am hoping by the start of the season I will be okay. But if not, then I know the guys will push.”
Chiefs open their Premiership season with a clash against Bloemfontein Celtic away from home on August 20.
