Ramphele: Room for improvement

AmaZulu winger Augustine Ramphele feels Wednesday’s friendly win over Real Kings gave new coach Cavin Johnson plenty to think about ahead of the new Absa Premiership season.

Johnson was handed the Usuthu reins this week after the club parted ways with Joey Antipas, and marked his first outing with victory as they carved out a 2-1 win over the National First Division campaigners.

And Ramphele, who impressed against Kings with his pace out wide, told his club’s official website: “We could see some combinations coming from the guys, but it was not our best performance. There’s still room for improvement.

“There were a lot of negatives to work on for future but I’m also quite sure there were a lot of positives.

“The game was okay. I think the guys wanted to impress the new coach since it’s important to make a good impression.”

AmaZulu will mark their return to the top flight on August 19 when they face Free State Stars at King Zwelithini Stadium at 15:00.
