KickOff.com has learnt that Orlando Pirates have made contact with Mamelodi Sundowns over the services of defender Mario Booysen.
The former Maritzburg United centre-back is now back at Chloorkop after his loan spell with SuperSport United expired at the end of last season.
Pirates are said to be looking to fortify their central defense following a dismal showing in the 2016/17 season, and have also been linked with Ugandan defender Murushid Juuko.
According to a source close to both teams, discussions have been held with regards to the possibility of Booysen moving to Bucs this coming season.
"SuperSport were interested to keep Mario but have since pulled out of the deal, after they were told about Pirates' interest in the player," says the source.
The 28-year-old Cape Town-born defender is currently with Stuart Baxter's Bafana Bafana side as they prepare for a 2018 CHAN qualifier against Zambia, which will be played in East London this weekend.
