Morgan Gould named SuperSport United Player of the Season

SuperSport United honoured the 2016/17 season's stand-out players at a glitzy awards ceremony hosted at Melrose Arch on Monday night. 

Morgan Gould emerged as the big winner on the night, walking away with the coveted Player of the Season accolade.

The 34-year-old, having only rejoined the club from Kaizer Chiefs in August of last year, was instrumental in seeing SuperSport claim the Nedbank Cup crown and finish in a respectable fifth position in the league.

Thabo Mnyamane, who joined Matsatsantsa from the University of Pretoria at the start of the season, was handed the Chairman's Award and the Players' Player of the Season award.

The 24-year-old managed six goals and nine assists in the Absa Premiership last season.

Teboho Mokoena scooped the Young Player of the Season prize for the stellar performances produced in his maiden season.

The club also took the opportunity to confirm the signing of goalkeeper Thakasani Mbanjwa from Bidvest Wits and announce that reserve team players Sipho Mbule and Riyaaz Ismail had been promoted to the first team.
