Orlando Pirates legend Edward Motale says the captain’s armband should be given back to defender Happy Jele following Oupa Manyisa’s transfer to Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Buccaneers revealed during Thursday’s press conference that their skipper had signed with the Brazilians ahead of the 2017/18 PSL season, leaving the captaincy up for grabs in Soweto.
And Motale, who won the CAF Champions League with Pirates in 1995 - amongst numerous other trophies - believes the armband should be returned to Jele, who led the team during various stages last season when Manyisa was unavailable.
“As for a new captain, we [Pirates] need someone who is vocal. Not a person who is quiet,” Motale tells KickOff.com.
“We need a person who is vocal and can connect [with other players] in the absence of the coach. If you can’t find someone like that, maybe the armband should go back to Happy [Jele].”
