Arsenal legend Thierry Henry visited Kaizer Chiefs' training base on Saturday along with NBA stars Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics and the Houston Rockets’ Clint Capela.
Capela and Brown are in the country as part of NBA Africa’s campaign to promote basketball in South Africa, while Henry joined the tour because of his love for the game.
They met with Amakhosi chairman Kaizer Motaung, ex-Glamour Boys striker Motaung junior and first team pair Siphiwe 'Shabba' Tshablala and Daniel Cardoso at Naturena.
Henry, France's record scorer with 51 goals, made his international debut in a 2-1 win over Bafana Bafana on October 11, 1997 and went on to amass 123 caps.
“I made my debut for France against South Africa and finished off my international career against the same opponent,” Henry is quoted as saying on Chiefs' website. “I also know the surname Motaung, because there was a player called Sizwe Motaung in the team.
“I am glad to have met Shabba because I still remember the goal he scored against Mexico in the 2010 World Cup, and it is cool to see that he wears jersey number 14, which is a special number to me.”
Motaung senior presented the overseas-based trio with Chiefs jerseys.
