South African youngster Luther Singh was on target for Sporting Braga II in Portugal

South African youngster Luther Singh was on target for Sporting Braga II as they opened their Portuguese second-tier season with a 1-1 draw against Uniao Madeira on Sunday.

Singh struck in the first half as he latched onto a loose ball and saw his shot deflected into the net.

It was not enough for the win though as Braga II conceded late and had to settle for a draw against a Madeira side that was captained by South African-born Sergio Marakis.

Singh is hoping to break into the Sporting Braga first team this season having arrived in January this year. He has only featured for the reserve side so far.
