Brentford suffer defeat as Kamohelo Mokotjo makes official debut

Posted: 5 August 2017 Time: 18:05

South African midfielder Kamohelo Mokotjo's official debut with Brentford was marked with a 1-0 defeat away to Sheffield United on Saturday afternoon.

Mokotjo made the starting line-up in Brentford Championship opening clash at Bramall Lane, but it ended in disappointment as they were unable to get on the scoresheet.

United bagged the all important goal in the 39th minutes after sustained pressure in the visitors' box.

Mokotjo conceded back-to-back corners before the hosts eventually broke the deadlock at the third attempt, with a headed effort from the edge of the area making its way into the top right corner.

The Bees pushed for an equaliser but were unable to find the net, with the former FC Twente skipper being replaced after 59 minutes.

Brentford's next test will be on the road to Wimbledon in the first round of the Football League Cup on Tuesday evening.
