South African striker Dino Ndlovu scored as his Azerbaijan club Qarabag advanced to the play-off round of the UEFA Champions League with a 2-1 victory at Moldovan outfit Sheriff Tiraspol.
Sheriff had been favourites to advance after holding Qarabag to a 0-0 draw at home in the first leg, but Ndlovu’s goal in first half injury-time set his side on course for the win.
It was some goal too as he picked up the ball out wide, beat two defenders and thrashed home a shot from 12-yards.
Qarabag enter the play-off stage, the final round before group play, where they are joined by the likes of Liverpool, Napoli, Sporting Lisbon and Sevilla.
The goal is Ndlovu’s third already in the Champions League this season as he continues to shine in Europe despite a chequered past in the PSL and the national team.
