Cape Town City chairman John Comitis confirmed to KickOff.com that he’s still undecided over whether to sign Siyanda Xulu on a free transfer.
The lanky defender reached an amicable agreement with his former employer Kazier Chiefs and is now a free agent.
Our website can confirm that City have been in negotiations with the 25-year-old over a possible switch to the Mother City.
According to Comitis he’ll have to consult with his coach Benni McCarthy to determine if City really require a defensive player like Zulu.
Comitis explains to our website: “I think he’s great player and I’ve always admired him.
“But I’ve got a team that works well together and to add another big name could possibly throw things out, you know. That's the last thing I want to do to the players. I’ll have to have a word with the coach as I’m still debating.”
City have made some shrewd acquisitions since the transfer window opened, adding Teko Modise, Ayanda Patosi and Lykle Lakay to their roster.
Comitis also hinted that he’s aware of their current shortcomings in attack with their Bafana Bafana duo of Juda Moseamedi and Aubrey Ngoma still on the side-lines.
“I’m not sure the length of Moseamedi’s injury and how long he’ll be out still,” said the former Ajax Cape Town boss.
“I have to say that [Lehlohonolo] Majoro is looking sharp and so too young Nana [Akosah-Bempah]. But we have to be realistic when we consider a player."
