Ex-Platinum Stars striker Henrico Botes training with University of Pretoria

Veteran striker Henrico Botes is currently training at University of Pretoria as he weighs up his options.

Botes linked up with the NFD club last week following the non-renewal of his contract at Platinum Stars.

“I asked Shaun Bartlett if I could come and train and he said yes. So I am keeping fit with them for now. I have been with them for a week and a half,” Botes tells KickOff.com.

“I obviously still want to play and I have actually been in talks with prospective clubs and nothing is concrete just as yet. At the same time I have also been busy with my CAF C licence coaching licence because coaching is an option that I am considering.

“We are obviously in a country where your age is always looked at first before your performance so that is also playing a role with regards to me.

“I am obviously in the older bracket in football playing terms but then I have been taking good care of myself. The difference is always on how you look after yourself through all that you do as a player,” explains Botes.

Botes – who turns 38 this year – made 29 appearances for Dikwena last season with a return of four goals.
