SAFA president Danny Jordaan believes CAF changes are good for South African football

Posted: 26 July 2017 Time: 17:29

South African Football Association president Danny Jordaan says the recent changes made by the Confederation of African Football are “good for the game”.

The recently-concluded CAF Symposium and CAF Congress saw, amongst other things, that the number of countries taking part in the Africa Cup of Nations will increase from 16 to 24, starting in the 2019 showpiece.

CAF also announced a number of fixture date changes, with Afcon now to take place in June/July, as opposed to the previous scheduling in January/February.

“This is good for the game. African has simply synchronized its calendar with the rest of the world and this will benefit Africa a great deal,” Jordaan said on the official Safa website.

“We are likely to witness more competitive tournaments with more viewership and definitely more revenue.”
