Kjell Jonevret trying his best not to focus on speculation surrounding his Orlando Pirates future

Posted: 26 July 2017 Time: 14:30

Orlando Pirates coach Kjell Jonevret has commented on his future at the club amid ongoing speculation that he could be replaced in the coming days.

Reports coming out of Uganda have suggested that Jonevret is set to take charge of his final fixture in charge of the Buccaneers, who take on Kaizer Chiefs in the Carling Black Label Cup pre-season spectacle, this weekend, as Serbian coach Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic nears a return to the club.

Sredojevic, who has been in charge of the Ugandan national team since 2013, and lead The Cranes to their first African Nations Cup finals in 38 years in 2016, is currently on leave amid a disagreement with the Ugandan FA regarding outstanding wages and bonuses.

With plenty of movements going on around him in terms of Pirates' playing personnel, the Swedish tactician admits he has no guarentees that he would still be in charge by the start of the PSL season, but says he and his technical staff are continuously giving their best while paying no mind to media speculation.

"There's a lot that has happened [in the transfer window], and I'm 100 percent sure that a lot more will happen at a club like Orlando Pirates in the future," said Jonevret.

"I think we are a good technical team right now. We have decided that we can't put any energy into things we can't control, so we're trying to come here [training] every day and do the best we can – that's the only thing we can do.

"I think we have worked really great together. With regards to my future, I don't care too much, I've been in this business for long.

"I know, the day I'm going to quit here, I'm going to say to myself, 'Good work, Kjell! You've done the absolute best you could and you can step forward.'

"So I'm not thinking too much about that, I come here every day, try to do my best today, tomorrow and yesterday, and that's my only thoughts right now."
