Former Baroka coach Sello Chokoe plans to use ABC Motsepe League experience to promote TTM FC

Posted: 26 July 2017 Time: 12:29

For years, Sello Chokoe has been known as the man who took Baroka FC from being an unknown side from Ga Mphahlele in Limpopo, to one of the most talked about teams in the country.

Chokoe has found himself a niche of getting teams in the lower leagues of South African football to punch above their weight.

After leaving Black Leopards recently, Chokoe made a move across town to link up with Venda-based Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila in the exciting ABC Motsepe League in Limpopo Province.

With his good knowledge of the league, having been there in the past with Baroka, Chokoe has put his sights firmly on qualifying the team known as TTM FC for the ABC Motsepe League Play-offs that serve as a pathway to the National First Division, which also serves as a bridge to the Premier Soccer League.

Not even the fact that he will have to go against teams such as Magesi FC, The Dolphins, Bellevue Village Winners Park Great North FC and Boyne Tigers FC among others has Chokoe intimidated.

The new coach wants to build on TTM FC’s third place finish on last season’s log standings, with top spot now the ultimate goal.

“Our biggest dream as the team is to be in the play-offs at the end of the upcoming ABC Motsepe season, even though the ultimate one is to be in the PSL very soon. I gave my all when I was in this situation with Baroka and now they are in the PSL, so that’s what motivated me to join TTM FC,” Chokoe told SAFA.

“The other thing for me has been the belief and faith that the management at TTM FC showed in me so much that I got a call from the President of the team Mr. Masala Mulaudzi, who told me that he would like to see another team from out province in the big league. This is a project that is exciting to me."

Chokoe’s arrival at the club has shown the competitiveness of the ABC Motsepe League and how coaches and players see it as good enough to work in.

Rumours abound that TTM FC's owners are interested in purchasing the status of National First Division side Milano FC but for now Chokoe seems intently focused on gaining promotion via a more traditional route.
