South Africa Under-17 head coach Molefi Ntseki has hailed his side’s “great display” after seeing off Madagascar 5-3 on Tuesday.
Amajimbos booked their place in the Cosafa U17 Championship semi-finals thanks to a brace from Junior Nare and goals from Olifile Ramatlo, Alex Da Silva and Mohammed Shahabodien.
Speaking after the game, which South Africa ultimately won after two goals in the final 10 minutes, Ntseki admitted he was blown away by the level of football on display.
“This was a great display of junior football. I believe both teams played very well and made typical mistakes for their age group,” he said on SAFA’s official website.
“I am very impressed with the way Madagascar played and I will not be too hard on my players; as we are in a building phase.
“We forgot to defend after we went 2-0, and the players had to be reminded that the second half would be very crucial and that we should use of strengths to our advantage.
“This was a game of two halves and we changed our approach in the second half.”
