Platinum Stars defender Siyabonga Zulu fails to report back for pre-season duty

Posted: 25 July 2017 Time: 10:14

KickOff.com can reveal that Platinum Stars defender Siyabonga Zulu remains AWOL having not reported back for duty since the start of pre-season earlier this month.

Zulu remains under contract at Stars.

Senzo Mazingiza, the Stars general manager was forthright in stating this fact.

“He [Zulu] is AWOL,” he tells KickOff.com.

“What I know is that he has not been back at work since the beginning of pre-season. We have made contact with his family and agents but he has not been back at work."

Efforts have been made to get hold of Zulu with no success.

His representative, Alban Newman of ProSport International confirmed that Zulu remains contracted to Stars but insisted that he is unaware of the 23-year-old's absence from training.

“He is contracted to Platinum Stars. I think he would be best placed to tell you why he is not at training if he is not training. I am not updated,” says Newman.

Zulu made 24 appearances last season and has been with Stars for the past two years, playing regularly.

He has also done duty for Chippa United, United FC, Sivutsa Stars and Blackburn Rovers but actually came through the Orlando Pirates ranks.
