Kaizer Chiefs defender Daniel Cardoso feels the players have to step up and win a trophy for Amakhosi this season after two disappointing seasons without silverware.
Cardoso, who is still trying to find his feet since joining the club in 2015, says they haven’t yet met with Amakhosi chairman Kaizer Motaung to discuss this season’s goals for the club, but reveals the players have already had their meeting discussing what they want to achieve with the club.
“We haven’t had a meeting with the management. That is still going to come,” Cardoso tells KickOff.com. “But for us as players, we had a meeting and we said we have to step up to the plate.”
Cardoso acknowledged it’s been two hard-hitting seasons for management, players and supporters, and again insisted silverware is a must for the Naturena side in the 2017/18 campaign.
“Two seasons without a trophy is very bad for Chiefs and for our fans,” he says. “Chiefs is a team that wins trophies every season. So we have to step up and win a trophy this season.”
