Sedwyn George not putting undue pressure on himself ahead of Ajax Cape Town career

Ajax Cape Town attacker Sedwyn George says he is starting with a “clean slate” as he prepares for life in the Absa Premiership.

The 25-year-old striker netted 20 goals during last season’s National First Division campaign for former employers Royal Eagles, earning him the 2016/17 Golden Boot award in South Africa’s second division and eventually a transfer to the Urban Warriors.

George recently confirmed to this website that he feels he has already settled in the Mother City, largely thanks to the support from his agent Russel Louise, and he now reveals he is ready and focussed on a fresh start with the Urban Warriors.

“I’m starting from a clean slate,” George tells KickOff.com. “What I’ve done in the past was a nice achievement but I should move on and focus on what lies ahead as the PSL has its own challenges and obstacles.

“But it definitely motivates me to push harder as there’s always room for improvement. One should always try to build on your success as you grow in life.

“For the record, I have no chip on my shoulder as I’m here to learn. The facilities are world class and that helps you as a player. My new team [Ajax Cape Town] is my only focus.”

The former South African FUTSAL player will be hoping to replicate his form in the new season and believes his experience in both sporting codes [11-a-side and FUTSAL] benefits him as a player.

“Although the two sporting codes differ, the skills you pick up there do come in handy in soccer as well. Especially the training ground,” he adds.

But Like I said, I’m starting from a clean slate and want to grow and contribute to my new club on and off the field,” George concludes.
