Kamohelo Mokotjo featured for his new English Championship side Brentford on Saturday as they played to a 2-2 draw with Premier League Southampton in a pre-season friendly.

It was a first appearance for the Bafana Bafana midfielder, who won rave reviews, including this from a local journalist, Tom Moore, for GetWestLondon.

“Kamo Mokotjo looks class,” Moore said. “He doesn’t do anything flashy but he pops up in the right place at the right time to break up attacks and drive the team forward.

“A very impressive first 35 minutes in a Brentford shirt. He’s communicating well with his team-mates as well.”

Charlie Austin scored twice for Southampton, while Danish forward Lasse Vibe and Josh Clarke scored for Mokotjo’s side, the second goal a gift after a howler from Southampton keeper Fraser Foster.
