Amajimbos coach Molefi Ntseki calls for cool heads after COSAFA U-17 Championships win

Amajimbos coach Molefi Ntseki has urged his troops to stay level headed after winning their opening COSAFA Under-17 Championship match.

The South African U-17 national team made easy work of their Group B opponents Mozambique at Stade St Francois Xavier in Port Louis on Friday.

The game ended 3-1 with Mohammed Shahabodien netting a first-half brace and James McFarlane adding a third in the second stanza.

Ntseki was pleased with the victory but did caution his charges to stay grounded as they still have a long tournament ahead of them in Mauritius.

“I want to give credit to the players for winning their first ever international match, but we should not get ahead of ourselves," he told SAFA.

"There is still a lot of work to be done. We played fairly well but this is a tournament and we must stay level headed.

"I am happy that they managed to score three goals, this will help immensely in keeping the spirit in the camp high."

Amajimbos currently sit top of their group and face Zambia on Sunday at 10h30 local time.
