KickOff.com understands forgotten striker Bongani Ndulula was presented with a chance to revive his career at Royal Eagles only for the club to have a change of heart.
Ndululu, who left Chiefs at the end of the 2015/16 season to join Chippa United, struggled with his weight and fitness before eventually being shown the door by the Chilli Boys.
"I heard the chairman [Sbu Mpisane] talked about Ndulula and Ndulula has not been here," Eagles coach Allan Freese tells our website.
"The general manager James Dlamini just mentioned his name but he [Ndulula] didn't come and that was the end of the story.
"You must also know that Ndulula hasn't played anywhere and he was going to come to us and [we would] have a look at him and say 'we would like to have him - yes or no?'"
Ndulula's agent Tim Sukazi recently revealed that he was in talks with clubs about his client's future but nothing has materialised.
The former AmaZulu striker last scored a PSL goal against Moroka Swallows at Moses Mabhida Stadium in December 2014, a game which Usuthu lost.
The 27-year-old striker came in for some heavy criticism from AmaZulu fans after he blew a gilt-edged opportunity to score on the final day of the 2014/15 season against Maritzburg United as his side suffered defeat and relegation from the top flight.
