SuperSport United midfielder Reneilwe Letsholonyane says the key to his successful season at Matsatsantsa was through “working hard” and the “hunger to achieve”.

“Yeye” joined the Tshwane side in 2016 from Kaizer Chiefs, where he won two Absa Premiership titles, two MTN8 crowns, two Telkom Knockout titles and the Nedbank Cup over an eight-year spell in Naturena.

And, the Bafana Bafana international went on to lift his first major trophy with SuperSport when they defeated Orlando Pirates 4-1 in last month’s Nedbank Cup final at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

“The key is working hard and having the passion for what I do,” said Letsholonyane, who was at the SAB Under-21 League National Championships launch and draw in Johannesburg.

“I always have the hunger to achieve. I always have the hunger to learn new things. They say you don’t get too old to learn new tricks. So, for me every day I want to learn, every day I want to be better than yesterday.”

Letsholonyane, who is himself an SAB League graduate, also gave some advice to the upcoming youngsters who want to emulate his success.

“My advice to anyone who would like to be like me, anyone who wants to represent this country; my advice is to work hard,” he said.

“Obviously, working hard to achieve your goal and never let people tell you that you cannot make it in life because your journey is your journey, your journey alone.”

The former Amakhosi midfielder also thanked SAB for their contribution to grassroots football in the country via the SAB Under-21 National Championships.

“I appreciate what SAB is doing for the youngsters and what it did for me because one as a youngster we all want to represent our country, we all want to play football at the highest level and we can’t be graduates at the same time,” he said.

“And getting an opportunity to be part of SAB League helped me in terms of being patient enough to say I must keep on working hard until I get an opportunity to play in the PSL and I appreciate that from SAB.”
