Golden Arrows coach Clinton Larsen expecting big things from loanee Knox Mutizwa

Golden Arrows coach Clinton Larsen is confident that on-loan Bidvest Wits striker Knox Mutizwa will blossom this season.

The Zimbabwe international spent the second half of last season on loan at Abafana Bes'thende and provided a glimpse of what he is capable of.

As confirmed by this website, Mutizwa again joins the Durban-based side on loan from Bidvest Wits, this time for the whole season.

The 23-year-old forward netted five goals in 14 appearances for Larsen's side last season and continued his form into the COSAFA Castle Cup as the Warriors claimed the title.

"I said it last season; he proved in a very short time that he can finish and 14 games with five goals is a very good return," Larsen tells KickOff.com.

"Hopefully there's more to come in his second season in the PSL. I'm sure he knows what the league is about now and his teammates will also understand him a lot better. So we're hoping for more of the same from him."

Arrows, who will open their MTN8 campaign against Wits early next month, had only Lerato Lamola and Sibusiso Sibeko to rely on upfront at the start of last season and sometimes utilised Kudakwashe Mahachi and Vuyani Ntanga as centre-forwards.

Now, with two established strikers to select from the onset, Larsen says he's still on the hunt for another striker to provide more competition.

"We're looking to beef up that department just to give Lamola and Mutizwa in particular some competition," adds Larsen, who was named Coach of the Month by the PSL in August/September last year.

"So at this stage it'll probably be a striker and maybe one more midfielder we are looking to bring in."

Larsen, whose side will compete in the KZN Premier's Cup this coming weekend in Richards Bay, along with all the other KZN teams in the top two divisions, says the club have given rising star Nduduzo Sibiya a little break.

The 22-year-old, who was named Nedbank Cup Young Player of the Tournament, was part of Bafana Bafana's COSAFA Cup side that finished fifth earlier this month.
