Orlando Pirates defender Abbubaker Mobara has urged his teammates to pull together to help the Soweto giants revive the glory years at the club.
Pirates finished the season empty handed for the third year running, and also missed out on the MTN8 with their worst league finish in 30 years.
But Mobara, the reigning Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament, is confident Bucs will bounce back this season, but conceded they have to fix the problems that have contributed to the team's downfall.
"Individual awards don’t always speak to what is lacking in the team," Mobara tells KickOff.com. "What we need to do as players is to fix what is lacking in the team. We need to get it sorted out in pre-season and hopefully things will change in the new season.
"There are things to point out, but I’m not the one to do that. But as a team, we have to come together and fix the things that need to be fixed. It’s not easy, it was not easy, but we are coming to a new season, it’s a new start, a time to put everything behind us and write a new story.”
Mobara has played in both defence and midfield since arriving at Pirates, and says he is happy to play wherever the coach decides is best, though he does had a preference for defence.
"Personally, I would say exactly where the coach wants to put me … but if you were to ask me where I am most comfortable playing, I would say right-back and centre-back.”
