Paulus Masehe: Sale talk hurt Free State Stars in 2016/17

Free State Stars captain Paulus Masehe has faith the team will have a stronger season this campaign without worrying about the club being sold.
Stars last year in July confirmed the failed sale of the club’s franchise to a consortium led by Gauteng MEC for Education Panyaza Lesufi, who was representing Moroka Swallows.
After that aborted deal, Ea Lla Koto narrowly avoided relegation in 2016/17 as they finished above the drop zone on goal difference.
“The very most negative factor that maybe pushed us to end up performing very bad [last season] was the sale of the team,” Masehe tells KickOff.com. “Because we ended up having to prepare with very minimum time left with our pre-season.
“Now we started early to prepare and we hoping and praying that everyone can be fit and there won’t be any injuries and we can be able to be very competitive with a full squad when the [new] season starts.”
