Knox Mutizwa back at Golden Arrows from Bidvest Wits

KickOff.com has picked up that striker Knox Mutizwa is training with Golden Arrows again.

Arrows coach Clinton Larsen was short on detail regarding Mutizwa's return from Bidvest Wits.

"We got him back but I'm not so sure [if the deal is a loan or permanent move]. I know the chairlady [Mato Madlala] is dealing with those things so I'm not sure," Larsen tells this website.

"And I'm also not sure what the deal is about but he started training with us on Monday," adds Larsen, who was previously vocal about desiring Mutizwa's services for another season.

The Zimbabwean spent the second half of last term on loan at Abafana Bes'thende from Wits, scoring five goals in 14 league appearances as the Durban club finished in the top eight for the first time since 2009. Mutizwa notably punched Arrows' MTN8 ticket by scoring a winner against Orlando Pirates in the last match of the season at Moses Mabhida Stadium on May 27.

Mutizwa went on to be named the 2017 COSAFA Cup Player of the Tournament this month after scoring five goals in the Warriors' record fifth triumph at the regional showpiece.

Wits showed they still value Mutizwa by extending his contract with the club in June, but coach Gavin Hunt has ample options upfront through the likes of Hellings Mhango, James Keene, Eleazar Rodgers and Phakamani Mahlambi. The latter, though, could be on the way to joining Bafana Bafana star Bongani Zungu in Portuguese topflight football.

Arrows were only left with Lerato Lamola and Sbusiso Sibeko as designated strikers following the initial departure of Mutizwa and exit of Malawian Chiukepo Msowoya, who failed to score in six league outings in 2016/17. Wingers Kudakwashe Mahachi and Vuyani Ntanga were also drafted through the centre on occasion last term.
