Cape Town City star Lebogang Manyama always striving to reach 'the next level' of his game

KICK OFF Football of the Season Lebogang Manyama insists he is always striving to reach “the next level”, and says he tries not to let personal accolades detract from that goal.

The Cape Town City star was the big winner at the PSL Awards earlier this month, winning the Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season awards, while his 13 Absa Premiership goals saw him take home the Golden Boot, and R425,000 in prize money.

However, with the forward only able to help the Citizens to the Telkom Knockout title last season, he knows there is still plenty of room for improvement, despite the personal honours.

“Whatever brilliance and all the good things that I have done, I have still remained the very same humble person,” he tells KICK OFF Magazine in the July issue, available on shelves and for download.

“It [personal glory] doesn’t go to my head. Once I do it now, tomorrow it is forgotten. Obviously, I will be proud about it and enjoy the moment, but I don’t stick it up my head longer than that.

“For me, what matters is what happens next because the next level is my target.”

The latest edition of KICK OFF Magazine (Issue 483) is now on shelf, with loads of interesting and insightful content to help you get your local football fix during the off-season break.
