Cape Town City midfielder Roland Putsche confident new signings will propel team to greater heights

Cape Town City midfielder Roland Putsche is confident that with the quality additions to their squad the Citizens are ready to challenge for league honours.

The former Wolfsberger AC midfielder enjoyed a solid debut season in the PSL after relocating to South Africa to join City owner John Comitis on his new venture.

“There is a lot of space to improve on last year’s achievements,” the 26-year told KickOff.com. “I think the new players have also adapted well.

“We have a lot of quality additions to the squad compared to last season and I’m looking forward to the season. I think with the players we have now we can achieve bigger things with the club this season.

“The players have responded very well to the coach [Benni McCarthy] and so, too, has the coach been very accommodating and understanding as he listens to us. You can see the respect and admiration from both sides and this tells me we on the right track."

Putsche, who settled in faster than expected, reckons with a season’s experience to his name he’s expecting to improve on his own game.

“Of course everything for me was new here in South Africa and I had to adapt to the culture here and I didn’t know a lot about the league, you know," he explained.

“I think now it’s much easier because I know about the style of South Africa and I know a lot about the teams here and that helps you a lot.

“I’m also hoping to improve my our performances and to contribute more but let’s see what happens."
