KickOff.com has been informed that Portuguese Primeira Liga club Vitoria Setubal have expressed interest in Stellenbosch FC defender Junaid Sait.
Also keen are PSL duo Ajax Cape Town and Maritzburg United.
Sait is currently in camp with Bafana Bafana preparing for the CHAN qualifier against Botswana on Saturday afternoon.
The interest in the 24-year-old and subsequent call up to the national team come on the back of a commanding performance for Stellenbosch in the first division last season, who he captained all the way to the Promotion Play-Offs.
Word reaching this website is that Setubal have already made contact with Sait’s representatives who are currently in Portugal.
Sait – who is son of retired footballer Kamaal – still has a year remaining with Stellenbosch, a club that also has Portuguese links.
The lanky defender has previously played in Sweden for Falkenbergs FF where he was coached by the legendary Henrik Larsson – who has made it known just how much he enjoyed working with him.
Sait went through his development under respected coach Farouk Khan at the famed Stars of Africa Academy that has nurtured May Mahlangu, Tokelo Rantie, Sibusiso Khumalo, Luther Singh and Tefu Mashamaite amongst others.
Sait has only been with Stellenbosch for a season having joined in August last year.
