Mamelodi Sundowns returnee Thela Ngobeni to be registered for PSL and CAF Champions League

Posted: 13 July 2017 Time: 16:58

Mamelodi Sundowns are planning to register returning goalkeeper Thela Ngobeni for both the PSL and the CAF Champions League.

Ngobeni spent last season on loan at Free State Stars, where he produced some good performances and proved that he can do a solid job in goal, if he were to get more opportunities.

Wayne Sandilands was confirmed as an Orlando Pirates goalkeeper earlier today after leaving Sundowns, so this opens a door for Ngobeni to be included in the African champions' squad going forward.

It would, however, take Ngobeni a while to claim the number one number jersey at the club, with Denis Onyango currently the man trusted in between the sticks.

Ngobeni's agent Mirko Agnelli confirmed that the goalkeeper would be staying with Sundowns.

"They [Sundowns] are registering Thela for the PSL and CAF. So yes, they are keeping Thela."

A Sundowns spokesperson said: "The team is still away on holiday, so nothing has been done yet [in terms of registering Ngobeni]."
