SuperSport United goalkeeper Boalefa Pule has made known his intentions of getting to play football next season following an impressive showing with Bafana Bafana at the COSAFA Castle Cup.
For all the six years that Pule has spent sitting on a PSL contract at SuperSport and Bidvest Wits he only has a single substitute appearance to his name, which lasted 13 minutes in last year Nedbank Cup final.
The sad reality being that the two games that he played at the recent COSAFA Castle Cup now means he has more Bafana caps than club appearances.
“Obviously we will look into that,” he tells KickOff.com in reference to his situation with Matsatsantsa where he has a permanent seat on the bench and in the stands, with Reyaad Pieterse and Ronwen Williams the preferred choices.
“There are people working with me based on those decisions because I would really like to play next season, but we will see what happens. Obviously in football things happen in other ways that you don’t expect. For me it will be more important for me to play for my club because once you are playing there the confidence goes up and it tends to be easier to then play in the national team because you know the guys that are playing against so it is easy to gel with them.
“Playing in the national team has been an eye opener for me that has helped me consider certain things in my life and my career as well. I would like to continue here but no one owns the national jersey. However, this will definitely increase my motivation to go and work harder at my team to try and get the much needed game-time,” he explains.
Pule has been kept in the Bafana squad that will play in the CHAN first leg qualifier against Botswana in Francistown on Saturday.
