Shongwe excluded from Wits camp

Bidvest Wits midfielder Jabulani Shongwe's future is set to be revealed soon after was left out his club's pre-season squad that jetted out to Cape Town on Monday.

Shongwe's future remains uncertain but clarity is expected soon as Wits coach Gavin Hunt explains the exclusion of the 27-year-old from their pre-season camp in Stellenbosch.

"He [Shongwe] is not here [at the airport]," Hunt tells "He is definitely going somewhere. He is leaving but I don't know where.

"We are boarding a plane right now to Cape Town for a pre-season camp that will last until next Monday. We've got plenty of friendlies lined up there."


Meanwhile, the player's agent Jazzman Mahlakgane has also confirmed that a move away from the Clever Boys is imminent, with Orlando Pirates reportedly interested.

"It's no longer a secret that the player is leaving Wits but it hasn't been decided yet which team he is going to join," adds Mahlakgane.

Shongwe did not feature in any of the Absa Premiership champions league games last season.
