Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Edward Manqele could make a move back to Free State Stars after he was spotted at the Ea Lla Koto offices in Bethlehem this morning.
Manqele is currently a free agent after parting ways with Amakhosi during the course of last season. The former Chippa United striker was earlier linked with a move to Turkey, but nothing has materialised and he is now searching for a new home where he can try rediscover his early PSL career scoring form.
According to a source close to Stars, the club is ready to give Manqele a chance to revive his career after an unsuccessful stint with the Glamour Boys.
"Manqele is here in the club offices. The coach wants to take a close look at him before making a decision,” said the source.
In his first stint with Stars, Manqele scored 11 goals in 29 appearances and attracted interest from both Mamelodi Sundowns and Chiefs. He joined Sundowns in 2012/13, but was unable to live up to the expectations at Chloorkop and was sent out on loan to Moroka Swallows, where he had problems with his weight.
Amakhosi took a chance on the 30-year-old forward when they signed him in 2015/2016. During his time with the Soweto giants, Manqele scored just one goal.
