Cape Town City chairman John Comitis has remained tightlipped over trialist Taariq Fielies, saying only that he has been impressed with the former Milano United defender.

Fielies is a free agent after bringing an end to a four-year stay with Milano in the National First Division and has started pre-season training with the Citizens, with the view to earning a deal in the Mother City for the 2017/18 campaign.

City boss Comitis, who is currently on vacation in Greece, was cagey when quizzed about his plans for Fielies, but hinted he was considering a move for his services.

“He’s looked good in training. I and very impressed, I must add,” Comitis tells “Other than that, I’m to saying much further.”

According to Fielies, he is enjoying his trial spell with the Telkom Knockout champions.

“I’m training with the club and it feels nice to be in such esteemed company like the coach (Benni McCarthy and other top players in the PSL. I’m giving my best to the coach and the club on training and hopefully, all goes well,” Fielies tells this website.

Fielies made one appearance for Ajax Cape Town during the 2012/2013 season after being promoted from their youth ranks.
