Baroka keep faith in Oscarine Masuluke

Baroka CEO Morgan Mammila says the club have no plans of recruiting a new goalkeeper ahead of their second season in the top-flight, with Oscarine Masuluke the club’s preferred first choice.
Masuluke, who is a contender for the Goal of the Season award for his overhead leveller against Orlando Pirates last season, was often criticised for his circumspect displays across the 2016/17 campaign.
The tall shot-stopper conceded 27 goals in 26 matches over the season, keeping just eight clean sheets as his side finished 15th in the standings, narrowly escaping relegation to the National First Division via the play-offs.
Despite the criticism, Mammila insists the club will stick with their gloveman, who he feels did not receive the right coaching over the past campaign.
"We've got a good goalkeeper in Masuluke,” the Bakgaga CEO tells KickOff.com. “If a goalkeeper can win Goal of the Month and be selected for the Goal of the Season award, it says a lot about him.
“The thing is, we didn’t have a goalkeeper coach last season and the boy had to do everything on his own."
Mammila also revealed that Kgoloko Thobejane will continue to lead the club as head coach, with no plans in place to replace him following the club’s top-flight survival.
"Thobejane is the man," he said. "He brings a vibe to the PSL. At Baroka we are not only playing for ourselves, but for the brand of the PSL.
"Thobejane will lead the team next season because he is doing good, he makes people laugh and the boys play good football under him."
