Mamelodi Sundowns have confirmed that Siyanda ‘Jojo’ Zwane is unlikely to feature in Sunday’s CAF Champions League match against AS Vita as he is fasting.
Zwane – whose option for another season was recently exercised – is a member of the Nazareth Baptist Church.
“Siyanda Zwane is on a fast for religious purposes,” says Pitso Mosimane, the Sundowns coach who has also recently had challenges with Bangaly Soumahoro and Fares Hachi. The two are Muslims, hence they were required to fast for the holy month of Ramadan.
Also not set to be part of the game is Tiyani Mabunda who is carrying an injury, while Wayne Arendse is set to return to action having already resumed full training.
Mosimane also notes that he will field a balanced team despite the fact that they have already qualified for the quarter-finals.
Sundowns play AS Vita on Sunday evening (19h00) in their last group match at Lucas Moripe Stadium.
