Chiefs working on Bereng deal

KickOff.com has learned that Kaizer Chiefs are showing interest in Chippa United midfielder Tshwarelo Bereng.
Bereng joined the Chilli Boys at the start of last season on a two-year deal from NFD side Cape Town All Stars, following his former coach Daniel Malesela to Chippa after the pair had previously worked together at Stars.
The 26-year-old impressed against Chiefs last year in an Absa Premiership match at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium when Bereng terrorised the Glamour Boys by scoring one goal and setting up the others for striker Lerato Manzini as Amakhosi lost 3-1.
And now, according to an insider, Chiefs coach Steve Komphela has instructed his brother, who lives in Ventersdorp, to tempt Bereng to Naturena.
“Apparently, Steve Komphela's younger brother lives in Ventersdorp where Bereng comes from, and Steve has been communicating with his brother to say he [Bereng] mustn't go anywhere and he wants him at Chiefs,” the source tells KickOff.com.
“Chiefs want to announce Ndumiso Mabena and Bereng by this coming Friday. Bereng has also revealed to me last night that Steve Komphela has been contacting him,” the source adds.
Meanwhile, Bereng's agent Thabo Moloto says his client still has 12 months to run on his contract with Chippa and that any club interested in the player should engage with United.
"Bereng's contract is ending next season and any club that is keen on him will have to speak to Chippa,” Moloto tells this website.
“I know Bereng is turning 27 years old this year so the best deal for him is what we want.”
Bereng, who was born in Klerksdorp, made 15 league appearances and scored once, which came in that game against Amakhosi, in the 2016/17 campaign.
