South African Lindokuhle Mfeka has made his Major League Soccer debut for San Jose Earthquakes, coming on as a late substitute in a 2-1 victory over LA Galaxy.
The 23-year-old winger was recalled early from a loan spell at third-tier Reno 1868 after an injury crisis in San Jose, and has now made his bow in the big-time in the USA.
He was signed by the Earthquakes at the start of the season and initially loaned out as a promising prospect to get game-time, but after some fine performances in Reno, during which he netted two goals in seven starts, his progress had been fast-tracked.
He will hope he can maintain his place in the first team squad as his side travel to Atlanta United on Wednesday.
They also host LA Galaxy again in the US Open Cup next Tuesday, which gives the team an opportunity for silverware this season.
