Mamelodi Sundowns' Themba Zwane eager to retain CAF Champions League crown

Posted: 1 July 2017 Time: 13:44

Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Themba Zwane says winning the CAF Champions League for the second time will earn The Brazilians more respect in South Africa and beyond.

The defending champions will face Saint George from Ethiopia at Addis Ababa Stadium today at 15h00 looking to bolster their hopes of reaching the quarter-finals of Africa's premier club competition.

“We want that feeling back. We know how it feels to win a Champions League,” Zwane tells KickOff.com.

“When you win a Champions League you get respect all over. We want people to respect us and winning the Champions League gets you respect.”

Sundowns are second in Group C with five points from four games - three points behind leaders Esperance from Tunisia and level with St George. Pitso Mosimane's men will end their pool campaign at home next weekend against bottom-placed AS Vita (three points).
