Victor Ali Abondo set to turn out for Bloemfontein Celtic next season

Posted: 1 July 2017 Time: 11:50

KickOff.com understands that former Ajax Cape Town midfielder Victor Ali Abondo is set to further his career in the Absa Premiership with Bloemfontein Celtic.

The 27-year-old attacker, who was signed by Roger de Sa in April last year, was plagued by injuries whilst with the Urban Warriors and could only manage a hand full of games for the club.

Ajax CEO Ari Efstathiou confirmed late last year that the club had reached a mutual agreement with the Kenyan-born player to seek greener pastures.

It’s understood that Abondo has subsequently struck a deal with Celtic, and will feature for the Free State-based outfit in the upcoming 2017/18 season.

“Yes, Ali is now at Celtic,” a source tells this website. “I think he was just a bit unlucky with his career at Ajax due to niggling injuries.

“Hopefully he’ll have better luck with Celtic as he’s not a bad player at all."
