Kaizer Chiefs defender Daniel Cardoso has stressed the importance of putting in the work during pre-season if they are to reap any rewards during the 2017/18 campaign.
Amakhosi are back in business from a short four-week break following a disappointing second successive domestic season without silverware.
Players reported for medicals on Thursday before beginning their preparations for the 2017/18 campaign at Naturena on Friday morning.
Cardoso, who managed 16 starts and four substitute appearances in all competitions last season while also registering his first goal for the club in February, is pumped up for the next few weeks after spending his time off around Johannesburg.
“I am looking forward to pre-season,” the 28-year-old told Chiefs' website upon his return to duty.
“I was just around Johannesburg. It was to relax a bit. I had a good rest."
The former Free State Stars fullback has highlighted the value in working hard during this preparatory stage, as the team look to turn their fortunes around in the upcoming season.
“What you put in at training during pre-season is what you get out for the rest of the season,” he stressed.
